If you are a professional corntoss player and want to participate for championship then you will have to buy a regular corn hole board and standard corn hole bags filled with feed corn. There are set rules for the tournaments laid down by ACA and you will have to qualify for it and get the approval seal in order to participate. ACA or the American Cornhole Association is a body formed to regulate the game and its rules for fair play.

 

ACA or the American Cornhole Association has prescribed that each cornhole board shall be a 48”X24” rectangle made of half-inch plywood. Other specifications are as follows:

• The hole should be six inches in diameters and centered nine inches from the top and twelve inches from each side of the edge.
• The front of the cornhole board should be two and a half inches from bottom to top and be at a ninety degree angle to the deck face.
• The back of the cornhole board should be twelve inches high and be at a ninety-degree angle to the deck face.
• The sides of board should be covered with solid wood so that the cornhole bags do not have any chance of sliding in.
• The surface of the board should be sanded to a smooth texture and must not have any blemish. More over, they should be painted with high gloss latex paint

 

The all weather cornhole boards are generally made with these specifications in mind. However, some times they are purposely made smaller so that they can fit into the car boot quite easily along with other holiday gears. As they are generally made of plastic, they cannot be sanded or painted, but are made quite smooth. Yet, it must be admitted that there is a significant variance in play between wooden or plastic surfaces.

 

Along with the boards the bags have also undergone many changes and the duck canvas has been replaced by weatherproof cloth. The bags used to be filed with feed corn which has also been replaced with plastic palettes.

 

For competing in the corn toss game championship you will have to use the cornhole sets that are approved by ACA. Check out for the seal of approval on the board of the cornhole sets that are approved by ACA. However if you are playing the game with your family and want to enjoy the game then you can use the all weather corn hole set. The all weather corn hole set does not require much maintenance and is quite portable. It is great fun to play the game with your children and see their bond with you growing even stronger.

 

In the corn toss game the 6” x 6” cornhole bag filled with feed corn has to be thrown in a hole with 6” diameter from a distance of almost 33 feet. To be a master at this game you will need very good eye and limb coordination and good body balance as you will have to be steady even after pitching the bag. The pitching area being small you must make sure that you do not step out of the pitching area after throwing the bag. To have that perfect motor skill and hand eye coordination you will have to practice hard.

 

Another popular version of the corntoss game is the washers game. It is said that both the games have originated from the same game in distant past. In corntoss game and washers game the pitching elements are corntoss bags and washers respectively. The corntoss bags are usually filled with feed corn of the right quantity. The washer boxes are kept at a distance of 20 feet from the pitching line. The washers that are pitched are generally made of rust proof iron. The washers have 2.5” outside diameter and a 1” inside diameter. The washer boxes measures 14”x 14”x4” in size with a 4” PVC cup set in the middle. If the player is able to pitch the washer into the hole then he scores three points. In case the washer falls inside the box even if not in the hole then the player scores one point and if the washer falls outside the box then the score is zero.

 

The scoring system of the corn toss game is quite similar in its pattern. Corn toss game is also known as corn hole game in some parts of North America. In some places corn toss game has transformed into bean toss game where the pitching bags are filled with beans instead of corns. Some people suggest that beans have replaced corns in places where corns are not grown in abundance. Washer toss also has many names such as washers, washer pitching, Texas horseshoes, washoes etc.
