How to imrove your care home

If you are in the ownership of a care home or perhaps even work within one and you think that there may be some room for improvement then there are a few simple and cheap ways of doing so.
First of all it is always a good idea to actually walk around and have a chat with the residents yourself. Check to see how they are feeling and perhaps ask them if they think there could be any improvements to the home. As they are living there the whole time it is a lot harder for them to cope with something that is wrong as there is nothing they can do about the problem at all.

A good idea is to go around and ask everyone what their favourite meal is, once a week or even month put all of these into a hat and pull one out and that is what gets cooked for that evening. It may not seem a lot to you or the cooks but to the residents it will mean a lot as they are being listened too.

Why not arrange for a couple of evening where residents and staff get together for a bit of a laugh. Two of the favorites are bingo and darts. If it is one of the residents birthdays then make a bit of an effort, a couple of balloons, a banner and a cake go a long way to somebody and cost very little.

Optimize the kitchen and washing area with commercial laundry machine as well as using commercial dishwashers. This will allow you to actually load more washing/dishes into one place allowing for cheaper bills. Having top laundry equipment could save a lot of time as well so instead of hiring extra staff to mingle with the residents one of the existing staff members could get a bit more involved.

Just a couple of ideas to help with the happiness of your residents as well as the productivity of the home.
